Hi there,

Over the last few nights the radiator in my bedroom has started making ticking noises - exactly the noises it makes when heating up or cooling down. At first I assumed it had just got cold enough overnight for the heating to switch on (room thermostat set to 13 deg), but when I got up & investigated, radiator was stone cold and when I checked the thermostat I could see that the temperature had got nowhere near low enough to switch the boiler on.

This is happening in the early hours and then intermittently until the heating comes on in the morning. I think the noise is originating from the thermostatic valve on the radiator but I don't understand how it could be making noises when not on. Never any problems with the valve before - it's definitely fitted to the correct pipe, and we've just left the TRVs fully open since the room thermostat was fitted about a year ago.

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
