I have to install 3 doors in my loft conversion. I have been thinking about metal door frames/jabs

I like the idea of the clean frame that will pair with the shadow gap around them.

Good or bad idea?

Cheers

Tim

If it's in a loft conversion they'll need to be fire doors and you'll also need an insumecent smoke seal and closer on the doors.
By shadow gap do you mean you wish to have no facings/architraves around the frame?

Yes it needs to be a fire door and will use intumescent strips

The metal frame idea was because I saw this.

You can do the same with a timber frame. It'll be easier to do the keepers for the latch and door closer into timber as well as the hinge recesses.

Pedant alert: sometimes I just can't leave it.

Jamb: it's a jamb. From le Froggie jambe = leg.
