So my lounge rad is warm atbottom hot at top when the water is switched on at the same time. When i turn water off it heats up hot at the bottom wth!

Also in another room the radiator only comes on when the water is off but only the very top of it comes on and then it is only warm.

Please help.

What he say

Several reasons. but need to know more about the boiler and system

1. could be at least some rads are gravity circulations, or installed as a heat leak.

2. could be the system isn't configured correctly.

3. Could be on one pipe system probably installed or modified badly.

4. faulty motorized valves, reverse circulation, anything not mentioned above.

Boiler is a 1980s Gloworm. Not a combi.

Muxh appreciated.

Fyi the rad in the 'other room' is an extension to the prop so was not there originally we think.

No way of guessing without an as fitted drawing of the pipework or loads of pics that can be pieced together.

A load more information.

Additional radiators could come under not connected correctly and causing a short circuit.

Where the pipes to the cylinder worked by gravity circulation and not pumped.

On a one pipe system, the tails to and from the radiators are gravity circulation even though the circuit loops are pumped.

Really old when heating and hot water was gravity circulation (no Pump)
