Hi there,

I am having problem with a leaking bidet, which I suspect is a leaking ball joint but of course, when the bidet is installed, I have no way of seeing what is actually going on. My suite is about 7 years old. Is this a common problem or is there a way of ensuring that the ball joint doesn't leak? I have just looked at the cost of a similar replacement bidet mixer and the cost (for the same item) ranges from £200 to £271. Obviously I do not want to pay this if it can be avoided.

Thanks for helping.

Simon

I wouldn't change the car if you have a flat tyre

You can all sort under a bidet with the use of a mirror, at worse you can disconnect it and check it out on the bench. probably the holding nut wants pinching up a tad by hand.

How does the ball joint stop water from escaping? Surely there will always be a small gap for the water to seep through.

Thanks

There's a ball with 2 cup washers it pinches between.

You should be able to tighten the chrome nut with your fingers enough to stop it leaking.

I have had the bidet out before, so that's not a problem, but can't remember seeing any washers last time. I didn't install it originally. Is it possible to get replacements if necessary and if to where from?

Thanks

Simon

I would use a mirror and try and locate where/what is leaking first.

Running down from the taps is common.

Thanks for that scruuf. There is a lot of verdigris/gunk around the hot tap (when I eventually removed the tap head) and it match with the staon on the floor. What do I need to do/replace or is it a matter of just tightening up the joint again?

Thanks for your help.

That look like the Delta silver spa, so an O ring or 2 to replace.

Turn the water off and check under the nut carefully, there may be a circlip on the top.

Should say hold the body tight when you unscrew the top.

It was so corroded, I decided to replace the whole thing. At least it has stopped that leak now.
Thanks again.

Dear Scruff,

I see what you mean about bidets.

I have stop the leak from the tap heads but it's still dripping. It appears to be in the bendy metal pipes that lead into the taps. Is it possible to do anything with this or shall I just give it best and invest in some new bidets taps?

Is it bendy metal or flexibles, either way you should be able to do something up, maybe with the aid of some jointing compound.

Another pic looking up would give us a better idea.
