sorry if this question has been asked before and thanks in advance for any help....I recently had a magnaclean fitted to a Worcester 350 combi boiler and would like to clean the filter since I never got a power flush prior to installation. My question is about the isolation valves. Normally I'd turn a valve clockwise to shut it off and counterclockwise to open it but this unit has 360 degree valves (?), which means exactly what, that there's 2 open and 2 close points within the valve and it needs to only be turned a 1/4 turn in either direction to close and open? The lad ( friend of my son) who fitted it left me the small plastic wrench and told me to give it a clean every now and then but I just assumed the isolation valves worked the same as any other valve, I never heard of a 360 degree valve...can anyone explain it in simple english to this mechanically challenged OAP?

Firstly a Magnaclean is not a replacement for a powerflush. It is an addition to one.

You should only have to turn the isolation valves 90d to turn them off.

If you can, look closely at the silver metal showing in the edge of the valve head slot.

It actually says 'open' & 'closed'. This assumes it is a new valve with the black head.

Be prepared for a spillage of water when you release the head and also don't clean it yourself if you happen to have a pacemaker fitted.

nope, had a look and can't see any markings on the valve housing, so can I assume 90 degrees to close in either direction?

The handle parallel with the fitting is on.

They are 1/4 turn valves, so a 1/4 turn from where they are is off, then another 1/4 turn is on

a fair amount yeah...so I'll keep an eye on it for the next few month or so and clean it accordingly, it was just the isolation valves that threw me because there's no clear on/off markings....anything to extend the life of this central heating will do me. The lad who installed it has all his licences and put that in along with a new ch pump, sensor, and PR valve for £125, I thought that was a decent deal.

I always warn customers just in case they have one fitted. I believe there is an actual warning on the box or in the instructions somewhere :?

Heres a tip. don't dismantle it to have a look at it and leave the magnetic rod down on a biscuit tin of screws

LOL

Sorry to jump on this old thread, but I opened up my Magnaclean the other day to get rid of the crud, and it was ever so slowly still filling up. Have I done something wrong or is there a nack to it?

Probably the valve is not turned right off.
