I met Chez and Inky a couple of years ago at the Harrogate Toolfair. Not a bad day out, but after strolling past (and viewing) the different exhibitors for the umpteenth time it gets a bit boring. But what the *ell, I got a couple of free T-shirts!...

Nice meeting Chez and Inky though!... :thumbleft:

Yes you can buy stuff - it's not just a marketing type trade fair.

Price-wise it's a bit of a mixture. Some decent offers, some stuff normally priced. Best chance of a bargain might well be later in the afternoon of the last day at a particular venue - often some traders will cut their prices a bit more rather than have to pack stuff up and cart it away again.

Last time I was at Harrogate I picked up quite a few free samples of things like Wago connectors and boxes, a couple of free T shirts, any number of free pens and other bits & bobs, and some decent bargains on the Irwin stand on Stanley blades, a set of bolt extractors, and a few other things.

Wasn't really in the market for anything big, but if you are and the manufacturer was exhibiting then you might be able to save a fair bit by allowing them to persuade you to buy there and then.

I'm looking at possibly going on Friday the 9th March.

Is Inky Pete still going?

Fin if you are going I'll get your mobile number and we can meet for a brew ( I think I already have Inky Pete's number)

If anyone else is popping along let us know and I'll try and arrange some UHM T shirts for people

Still planning to go on my day off next Friday.

Only thing that will stop me is if there's suddenly loads of lovely overtime available (the current Mrs. Inky is proving to be almost as expensive to run as her predecessor!)

bummer........ ill only make it if it rains and we cant graft. bit gutted. i wanted to see in action a few things. that bosch glider mitre saw looks class. was hoping to test out a few sds drills. maybe core drills. and look over some rail saws. and just get an idea of how much they may cost me on the day etc.

are these shows anual? guess ill have to make the next one like. pity there isnt one in newcastle like. gotta be knockin on a hundred miles to drive just to look at stuff.

woulda been cool though. and coulda had a bit of a meet organised.

Do did anyone go, then? I'm up for Manchester, always assuming I'm working near enough to get there that week

Yes, I went yesterday.

Not as many freebies or bargains as in previous years, but still ok. Didn't buy anything, but then I wasn't really looking for anything in particular.

A few scantily glad girls scattered about the place, but not like the one me and Chez saw last time. She was on one of the smaller stands. Must have been no more than 18, VERY tidy in a tiny crop top and the smallest, tightest pair of hot pants I've ever seen (definitely no underwear!). She was doing a lot of bending down and drawing quite a crowd, but the funny thing was that I got the impression she was the daughter of the guy on the stand. He was looking DAGGERS at all the tradesmen drifting past with their tongues on the floor, but it was him who'd put her on the stand dressed like that in the first place!

I went to a few country and county shows last summer and there seemed to be a growing collection of tool traders exhibiting there, with great bargains to be had as per all the shows. Food for thought!
