I had my tonsils out at about age 4, I've still had my fair share of *strep throats* though.

My usual treatment is:- honey, lemon, whisky and hot water, or honey, hot milk and brandy and go to bed, drink enough of those two, add in some Ibuprofen (or Codeine if you don't mind the constipation) and you'll just sleep and forget about the throat.

..The Ex-Landlord of "the Inn on the Furlong" (Which was my local for many years) Used to swear by this cure for anything.....

2 bottles of *Pussers navy rum* before bed.

If you wake up in the morning... you'll have a banging headache.. but any fever/other symptoms will have gone..

54.5 % ABV

It's a while since I've been in the Furlong: it's one of the regular places I used to stop off at with a mate on the homeward journey when we'd been fishing together.

Plenty of nut-jobs in there, but nothing to compare with my old local in Hampstead.

My mate got the hump with a barmaid in there one time, it was a really hot day and we stopped there off mid-afternoon, usually he just drank straight bitter like me, but on this occasion he wanted a pint of lemon-top (a pint of bitter with about an inch of lemonade on top) she just flatly refused to put lemonade in the bitter.
