Rather unusual post. I understand there's been a bit of trouble on another forum I'm sure it won't be repeated on here.

Hi Mod 6.

Yep. And it's really weird since - as I'm sure you've realised - Tom Plum is one of the most amiable peeps around.

It's a true mystery - perhaps the man himself can shed some light on it!

The plot (story) thickens

Perhaps I shall log in to see if doitall is still a member.

Not been on since they made a right mess of the forum.

Gosh, that's over a year ago since I last posted.

There's a good thread " Bring back Tom" :thumbright:

Same here.

I actually placed an order with Screwfix on Wednesday and took a look at their forum, it is extremely difficult to navigate and I soon lost interest.

Perhaps Screwfix have decided that their forum costs them too much in terms of hosting and moderating/looking after etc. They took a huge gamble by changing the forum software and when the majority of the members complained they just left it as it was

For years there used to be a link high up on the screwfix page to the community forum, but now it has been replaced with a small link at the footer that you have to search for.

That's partly true - I'm sure the link is still up there at the top.

The irony is that many of the SF forum users were complaining bitterly about the quality of the layout and its basic features, constantly comparing it very unfavourably with other fora (yeah, I know - sic.). But these moaners still continued to use it regularly.

SF, to their credit, responded and tried to make it better, and in many ways it is technically superior to the one it replaced. But it was initially plagued with problems and crawling with bugs, and - worse - when it finally got its act together, people felt it had lost its soul.

Which it now certainly has.

Really sad.

Yes, you are correct there is a link at the very top

I didn't see it up there as it is not where it used to be

hi scruff, i went to the 'contact us' link, there is a drop box choice, the forums is one of the choices so i asked the question, " why have i been banned", i have done this twice, but still no reply,
I know they don't like us posting links, I can understand why they don't like us posting competitors links, but the one I was posting were for guitars from china, and links to youtube, showing the quality of these guitars, nothing at all to do with building products,

I wonder if the reason they haven't replied is because - *cough* - you didn't give them a legit email addy?

Surely it can't be the LP thread?! I mean, all they'd have to do is pull it, not ban you. And why would they even want to delete it? I haven't seen many geetars in their catalogue. Perhaps they're paranoid about being sued for encouraging copyright breaches...

Weird.

Anyways, I can't see me threading on there much now; perhaps I'll keep an eye on the plumbers' forum and correct their nonsense now and then, but I can't feel a****d to post anything in 'Chust Talk'.

I wonder how long Looch will last... :cb

I dunno Dev's its very strange, On the form from 'contact us' you have to give a email address, so they know mine, there's no excuse for not giving me a reason, and my old username (tomplum) had a real email address, it was only when they changed the format i could not log in, so i made a new account as (tom.plum) with a 'made up email' and several times asked, why can I not have my old account, but they never answered that,
It really is very puzzling, anyrode, onwards and upwards, This site is very welcoming and so I've moved my luggage over here and hopefully be usefull to someone,
catch ya laters cyber buddy, :hello2:
