Hi

in desperate need of help?

I've just replaced my old toilet syphon with a new "Derwent Metro three part oblong syphon 10" and very thing seemed fine until the toilet was filled, and then every 5 to 10 minutes a drop of water leaks from the joint securing the syphon to the actual toilet?

Is there any bonding material that I could use to stop this very slow leak, but all the same annoying?

As you will guess from this - I'm new to any DIY.

Many Thanks

There should be a rubber washer inside the cistern.

If you cleaned the inside it shouldn't leak in that case.

Are you sure thats where it's coming from.

Hi thescruff

yes it's seeping very very slowly from the joint between the bottom of the toilet and the securing plastic nut(for the better use of a word)?

I'll try cleaning the inside of the cistern were the black rubber washer contects to the syphon.

Many thanks for your help?

Hi thescruff again - I've now just check our other toilet which has the same syphon and that has a washer on the outside as well as the inside? Maybe I need to get a washer for the outside?

Regards

No, just the inside seals it.

Had the same problem when changing a syphon recently (leaking round the base) discovered that the new washer was slightly thinner and harder than the old one so, as the old washer was still in good condition I re used it - Problem solved.
