As many of you will know I am in the middle of a full bathroom refit at home, which I have been on with for a couple of weeks!

I bought a toilet pan from a seller on ebay and I am having real difficulties getting a pan connector to fit onto it.

Without going and taking a picture of it I can tell you that it is tapered and when ever I push a toilet pan connector onto it the damn thing just springs right back off. I have tried four different pan connectors and they all do the same thing. I have fitted a few toilets in the past and just pushed the pan connector right on, but because the ceramic part on this toilet is tapered the pan connectors spring right back off. ::b

Has anyone come across this before and does anyone have an suggestions on how to fix a pan connector to it?

I have considered using plumbers gold around the existing seal but this would mean holding it until the plumbers gold cures or making something to clamp it in position.

De-grease it with some white sprites, spigot and fitting.

Makes the EDPM sticky so you need to get it together quickly or use water as a lubricant.

The cheap bigs can be a birch to seal. As Scruff says make sure it's clean and use a genuine multikwik connector not a bee & poo special. If its being boxed in can you get a wedge behind it? There's not usually enough play on the pipe for it to slide off unless you're using a flexi ?

It's a B&Q flexi I am afraid.

I'm going to see if I can get any of the connectors to fit once I have cleaned it with white spirits.

The toilet waste runs under two vanity units before connecting to the soil pipe. I had to use a flexi to connect to the soil pipe as a soil elbow was too high to fit under the units.

I'm off to bodge it now

I cleaned it with white spirits and it made little difference. I then cleaned it using a scotchbrite pad but that had little effect.

I decided to use some plumbers gold as an adhesive and run a bead around the face of the connector. I then clamped the bstard in position for 5 hours before moving it.

Then I checked it and it seemed to be stuck :thumbright:

So I put it in position and fixed it to the floor, then connected the flush pipe.

Then the f*cking soil connector sprung off again. ::b ::b

It's fixed to the floor now so I don't want to move it again.

I'm off to the plumbers in the morning to try and get a Multikwik connector. At least now it is fixed to the floor I can push something on and wedge it in!

If I put a straight edge across the back of the toilet the pan connector is set back 55mm -

This is the flexi pan connector when connected, but after a few seconds it springs back off-
