Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of help concerning my toilet....

The problem:
After flushing the tank fills, the float rises but the fill valve (I presume this is what it is called?) doesn't cut off.

So the tank continues to fill and water continues going through the overflow and into the toilet bowl.

The only way to stop it is to turn the sink tap on which reduces the pressure and it cuts off.

I've included some photos so you can see what I mean - I'm not sure how clear they are but it shows the valve and the water coming through it after the tank has filled (it's a fairly modern system).

Questions:
Does this mean the valve is faulty or is there a way of tightening it? Do they sometimes come loose?

If the valve is faulty how difficult is it to fix for a novice?

Thanks in advance for your help
