Bal CTF3 is a cement based slow setting adhesive, the belt and braaces bit is that for the size of tile you have 8x10 its a bit OTT, but better safe than soory i only use bal grip on small formats like 10cmx10cm on kitchen splashbacks and such, but seeing as your doing a bathroom the CTF3 is the way id go!

Not really able to advise on how best to prepare the walls, as I do not know how bad they are.

You ideally want to use a white adhesive with beige tiles. If you are not confident enough to use a cement based adhesive (in a bag) then use a tubbed adhesive although with the tiles you have, they are maximum size for using tubbed adhesive.

As Marc1106 points out they are on the limit for tubbed adhesive and so if you can use powdered, it would be better. Although Marpei now do a tubbed adhesive for larger size tiles lol.

I'll try thr BAL CTF3 and see how it goes? I'll start by tiling just one section of the walls by window as it's less surface to tile, then depending on the outcome, I'll fproceed from there or abbandon and reconsider! The ''belt and braces'' was what left me lost?

BTW, is the CTF3 a cement based adhessive that I'll have to mix, or does it come in a tub? Thanks for all the assistance people

It is cement based and you will need to mix it yourself.

Not a lot to see from the pics, looks like they have tiled on top of wallpaper in the first one. Second shows brick and what looks like blown plaster and so will need sorting.

I think I'll wait till after the xmas period,then return the 3 tubs of BAL I had bought earlier, and exchange with the CTF3. Hope the staff dont tell me it's over 14 days or some such rubbish, or I'll realy kick-off some steam?

TBH, I'll be exchanging the product, not asking for a refund. BTW, going by posts of royaloakcarpentry and marc1106, the CTF3 will cost more, so I have to hand over more cash. That should be a good thing for toppstiles.

has now used the CTF3 to tile the walls and will NEVER use another product again, 'cept the BAL CTF3!

When I initially mixed it, I thought, 'sumfink aint right here'? The mixture didn't give the impression that it would adhere to the tiles or the wall? So it took me about 10 mins wondering if I had mixed it right? I proceeded and after about 20 mins, it looked good. the rest is history. Great product and thanks again.
