Tile drills seem so be expensive for what they are. Are most tile drills similar in make, or is there a massive difference between different brands?
I have seen some Armeg ones and they were mega expensive |

I have never bought a tile drill yet and never broken a tile drilling them I use a normal masonary drill and masking tape, just tape the area you want to drill start the drill slowly until you get through the glaze then you can up the speed to drill the hole
you watch next time a drill a tile _________________ Gary |

| For a cheap tile drill bit set I'd recommend 365 Drills. Its not gonna last more than 1 job but it gets through porcelain ok and only cost about £40 quid from here - http://*Alert moderator- please report this post*/. You dont need expensive arbours either the kit comes with a drill plate |

I'm with cannyfixit, until I won a set of diamond hoelsaws on UHM, I've always managed using ordinary masonary drills, slow speed, sometimes a pool of water, using slow speed. After drilling the hole, always use a slightly bigger size to 'counterbore' the tile so the plug sits beneath the top of the tile.

ive never had a problem though i have to use an older style drill. (cant spin the chuck on an sds drill)
i just get a good masonary drill and mark where i want the hole in pencil. then place the tip on the point. spin the chuck by hand till i hear the bit score the glaze and go from there |
