One other thing I will say, this mouse pad thing takes some getting used to, I am thinking of buying a mouse (I have seen really small ones) but then that defeats the object of a laptop. Its interesting though.

I use both the track pad and a mouse. Just get a cheap wireless mouse for when you're using the laptop on a flat surface http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing ... 9-pdt.html

I use a wired mouse on my laptop, I could never get on with the touchpad.

Another one pro-mouse.
I've tried, tried and tried again with the pad :cb ... but eventually returned to a mouse ... :-) and agree that a wireless one is worth the little extra.

Not sure about wireless mouse costing "extra" Having never had one before, I might not get on with it, so I didn't see the point of spending lots of money, so I didn't £2.63

Hi,

Good luck with your little rodent s-e. :huray:

The only computers I've ever owned have been desktops; I tried a wireless mouse and keyboard but reverted back to both being wired.

Kind regards, Col.

I too can't stand those touch sensitive pads on laptops. Had a works laptop some years ago and first thing I did was buy a usb mouse. In my present job in the hospital we have about a half dozen lappys on the ward and three desktops at the nursing station. I much prefer to use the desktops, but isn't always possible if I'm working in a cohort bay (where someone has to be in the bay at all times) We also have 6 iPads in use for recording patient obs on.( Patientrack system) when you press the screen, sometimes it takes several presses before it records the touch to input a number etc. (wastes time when recording obs)
Incidentally, I've just won an iPad Air2 in a competition and am waiting on delivery of it this week. I'll see how I get on with it, before deciding whether to keep it or give it one of my family members

It doesn't feel super robust, but it doesn't feel cheap and nasty either. Plugged in the USB receiver, put batteries in the mouse, no set up, no anything. works strait away. Very happy
