Hi all :hello2:
Had to find somewhere to post these pics, council contractors have just been and insulated my loft (lol)
I think they think because I live in a council house I don't matter and they can do a shoddy job. I work and I pay rent and council tax etc... no benefits whatsoever. But that's besides the point, doesn't matter who pays the rent etc...these people are paid to do a job why can't they do it right?

How did you expect them to insulate your loft properly with all your crap still up there? Presumably you knew they were coming and had plenty of time to shift it.

If you don't like how the job has been done then don't pay for it - oh, hang on, you didn't anyway, did you?

Wow!! No need for that! I showed them what was up there and told them I would move it but they said it was fine. Didn't expect them to insulate round it or to not bother doing the middle of the loft.

I did pay for it.....BY PAYING MY RENT!!!!! Which I go to work for!!!

You should've cleared it out mate. When I was fitting windows for the council the tenants were instructed to take down blinds and curtains or no windows were fitted.
Same went for the lofts, the boxes had to be cleared or the insulation wasn't going down.
Reason being every other council tenant wanted new curtains, blinds or whatever was "damaged" whilst we moved or took it down.

Like I said they knew it was there, I told them to go up and check before they got anything out of their van.
I suppose if I owed my own home and had paid a private company you might find this "job" out of order.

If you'd been paying a contractor then he would have either walked away from the job or charged you more for shifting your stuff.

Did you really expect them to bring all your stuff down from the loft, remove the loft boards, either cross batten of fit stilts for the boards to go back on, lay the insulation, refit the boards, then carry all your stuff back up again??????

I'm sure you'll have got a letter from your landlord instructing you to make sure the loft was clear when they told you what date the contractors were coming.

I wish someone would do mine for free. Don't get feck all, ever. I'd be happy with half a job.

There isn't a lot in there and I made sure they had a look before getting their stuff out of van, don't you people read these posts?!?!?!??!
I give up, it's a shitty job end of story!

Homeowners can also have free loft and cavity wall insulation via a government grant housing association and council tenants have the same deal all government sponsored.

So the lads turned up on the day to do the job expecting the loft to be clear for them to crack on with it - as you'd almost certainly been instructed by your landlord.

It wasn't clear so they laid insulation on the areas they could get at (and by the look of it left excess so that it could be pulled into position whenever you do move your stuff).

They're probably paid per house done so if they'd walked away then they would have lost money. If they'd spent time shifting your stuff for you then they wouldn't have been able to do all the houses they were scheduled for that day - so they would have lost money.

I really don't see what else you think they should have done!

How long would you expect it to take to do the job properly? Tell me and I'll tell you how long they took.

Sick of repeating that they saw the stuff up there before they started, and no wasn't told to empty the loft but considering you couldn't get in it at all a few weeks ago there was hardly anything in there, it would have taken ME 5 mins to shift it out if they had wanted me too!

Including unscrewing and removing the loft boards, then reinstating them on cross battens or stilts afterwards?

Pull the other one!

I meant taking my stuff out LMAO, the boards are just pieces of MDF laid across the beams. They started at 9.14 and were gone by 9.29 (I know because I text my OH to let him know). Google tells me it should take about 2 hours.
Anyway I though it was funny. As you were boys

How many of them were there?

Probably would have taken them longer if they'd actually been able to do the whole loft - but you prevented them from doing so.
