@BillyGoat thank you so much for such a detailed reply, that is the first time I have seen a wired PIR but its pretty much what I thought, I just needed some reassurance.

Your suggestions on Areas is exactly what I will do, I never thought of installing an expander in the garage however that sounds like a great idea so I will give that a go when I get the cable buried later this year. I suppose it means as well that I can put door and window sensors out there as PIR's might have issues with Spiders etc? I might be wrong on that.

On the net connection, I take it by "connect" you mean the Smart Com?

Thanks again for all your help on this guys, I am now more confident in fitting this myself now that I understand the PIR wiring. I am going to get the USB cable as well to make naming and set up a little easier.

Is there any other ideas or suggestions you have?

Sorry, just to add to my own info: SmartCom enables remote panel connections from Wintex, and the Connect App - so you don't need USBCom too.

You can do as you suggest in the garage. I've got a 360 degree DT and roller shutter contacts in mine. It's via a powered expander, as it drives a bell box, some other bits and it's got one of the output pins for a 'confirmed' entry.

This means, if the door OR DT go off, the bell box goes. If BOTH go....it fires up the output pin. Sadly for whoever walks in, will get an ear ache...it's connected to a masterblaster just above the door.

When you get into it, you'll enjoy it. Just take your time, as if you're not sure.

You can always wire the panel up on a table, a few off cuts of cable and have a trail run on the table before mounting it out of reach where it's harder to troubleshoot. Setup a few zones (entry and a few guard zones), the keypad and have a play. When you're done, mount it.

I don't really rate master blasters, too easy to stop one with a piece of card :huray: I was surprised when I saw it done.

I guess it's like saying you don't rate CCTV cameras, as you can put a sock on the body.

If anything is mounted in the correct place, it can function as intended and not be abused.

Awesome, I ordered it today so hopefully it’s all here for the weekend to get cracking.

Hopefully the panel has the newest firmware or I will have to wait and get the upgrade PCB. Also good to know that the smartcom allows interaction with wintex, this would make changes etc very easy.

Hi Guys,
I have got everything worked except the actual zones at the panel, there are two connection per zone, does it matter which one is tamper and which is alarm?

I have wired mine so the alarm goes in first and then the tamper, just wanting to check before I power it all on.

If you are only using one pair (I believe you are) then there is no tamper or circuit pair, just two wires that monitor the circuit and tamper. They are not polarity conscious so yes you can (if you really wanted to) swap them around.

Since you will be having multiple devices using the same type of cable for each, its good practice to connect them all the same way at the panel, so if you use Purple and brown* when you look in the panel you will see pairs of wires,

purple & brown, purple & brown, purple & brown, purple & brown, purple & brown

Not

purple & brown, purple & brown, brown & purple, brown and purple, purple & brown

With the red and black used for power.

* colours chosen at random, your 8 or 6 core does not have purple.

Thats great, I have connected the power and everything seems to be working.

I am just having trouble with the Smartcom connecting to its server to get an app code so I can use the app itself.

Also any idea on how to get the wintex software working with the smart com over wifi so I can program everything?

I have sent an email to Texecom support to see if they can help out with the Smartcom connection.

Its a little addictive when you get into all the settings so im looking forward to seeing how the wintex software works so I can fine tune everything. No doubt the system is a little more complex than it needs to be for a residential setup but I think its great.

I have only used PIR's throughout however you guys had suggested door contacts for entry and exit, the problem here is I cant get cable down to the door, however, I didnt know you can mix the Texeom Ricochet wireless with the wired systems. I am considering adding on a wireless extender and putting in some door contacts.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this or even how better to utilise the system?

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to give an update, everything is now installed and working. It was relatively easy however the EOL thing threw me, but everyone on here really helped. I got the Smartcom system up and running, however, there were a few problems at the start. Basically, my system wasn't registering a serial number which was causing the Smartcom to not generate an app code. A simple phone call to texecom support got it all sorted though.

I am considering adding in a Ricochet wireless expansion panel so I can add in 2 door contacts like a few of you guys suggested above. I have the PIR in the hallway set as entry/exit and while it works it shows a fault until the PIR settles and only then will the system set.

I will also add in a wired expansion panel over the summer when I get the cabling out to the garage and then keep it separate from the house.

Wintex makes it extremely easy to setup, I am going to attempt to get this running over the wifi network this evening as im sure there are other little tweaks I can do.

Thanks again for all your helps guys
