whats best or what is the difference between tapered and square plaster boards
going to use it on my ceiling and stud wall

IMO tapered are better (at least that was what I was advised to use). I'm sure its one of those things that some people like one and some prefer the other.

Tapered allow for the board joints to be taped and jointing compound to be applied. Good if you are not going to plastering over the boards

Only use tapered edge if you are taping and filing the joints.

If you are skimming the boards once they are fixed you should use square edge, tapered would give your spread an uneven surface to skim over.

I've used tapered all round and still skimmed....I think its gives a little more margin for error for the DIYer :thumbright:
