I'm going to tape & fill a few plasterboard joints. I was thinking of using scrim adhesive tape and not paper, anyone got views on this stuff? Also I read somewhere that some joint fillers are better than others with scrim tape, again anyone got any views? There's only about 18m2 of plasterboard to tape & fill, so quite a small area, so what's the best joint filler, pre-mix or bags?
Thanks for reading.

Premixed filler is more convenient and for that reason, I use it all the time. I would also use the scrim tape, not the paper.

Step 1, put the tape in
Step 2 go over with the filler, taking off all the excess and making sure the tape doesnt ruck.
Step 3 Go over again about three hours later when the first lot has gone hard. A little less pressure
Step 4 When it is dry, sand it lightly to remove any nibs or protrusion and apply another thin coat, feathering it out past the edges of the joint.
Step 5 when bone dry, sand with a pole sander, not just a piece of sandpaper.

Step 2 beds the tape and fills up most of the recess created by the tapered edges of the boards.
Step 3 fills and holes left after step 2 and makes up for any shrinkage.
Step 4 makes it very slightly proud of the board and step 5 gives a perfect finish.

Some experts can do it in less steps and still achieve a perfect finish, some use a sponge to feather to save time, but the method I have given can be done by and fool, myself included.

I would do it as above to but just in a couple of passes (probably due to the amount of times I've done it tho)

And I would use BGypsum Easi-fill, I find this to be the best filler out there but it is a little on the expensive side and to be honest by the sound of it you just won’t need half of even a small bag so I do completely agree with jozeffo, a pre mix would be best for you

Sorry, but do you have any further tips for internal corners & ceilings? Loads of videos on this subject on Youtube, but lots of conflicting views, I guess everyone has their own way.

Internal right angles can be taped and then filled using a corner trowel cost about a tenner, although if the plasterboard is tight, you can just run a thin line of caulk and nobody will know.
