I started at 10am this morning working on this rush job of a toybox seat. I got everything finished apart from fitting the soft closers and routing the name on the front. Not bad going I thought. :D

Got a nice amount of storage in that. Does it look high or is it the way it is placed near to objects in the shop which makes a bit of an illusion?

Not that I have looked at storage for toys in the last 18 years but it must hold a decent amount more than what is on the shop shelves to buy.

It will look very nice once the name is on the front.

Got a bench space for rent near me for 650 a month with use of all machinery and storage spaces, good deal as most are 300 plus a week. Just trying to figure how I can spare that money for a while until I start getting a return. I am pretty sure that a lot of the shops in Chelsea will shove on bespoke dressers etc to the public.

I think it must be a trick of the camera RO. It is actually 17" H x 18"D x 36"W That does sound a good price for workshop space along with the machines. A workshop is worth it's weight in gold for the way it speeds up work rate. Not to mention having somewhere dry to work. :thumbright:

I looked at the hoover and it seemed right height...then to the cabinet and it made it look bigger again lol.

It is a bargain price, especially with some of the machinery they have and a massive spray booth. 24hour access and so hopefully I could work till 4pm and then jump in there for 4 or 5 hours.

Mailee, that looks very good! :thumbleft:

I always wondered about how you router the name on the front, do you put it on its side and how do you do the letters?

Thanks guys. Yes Nick I turn the box on it's side and get myself a seat on one of my tool boxes :-) . After printing out the letters from my computer I then transfer the image with carbon paper. Then I score around the letters with a craft knife just enough to sever the fibres. I then use a 1/8" straight cutter in the router for this size of letters and then cut them very shallow to start guiding the router by holding the base instead of the handles. This makes it much easier to control. As the cutter reaches the scored lines the wood 'peels' off indicating I have gone far enough. Once the letters are cut I then clean up the back ground with a chisel held upright like a scraper. HTH.
I got the name routed on the toybox this morning and this afternoon the soft closers arrived so I got those fitted and the box finished.

Looks great and thanks for the explanation. It sounds very simple but I can imagine that it takes a lot of practice! :thumbleft:

When we get a bigger place I would like to do some wood work but can imagine that I am a long long way off doing anything like that but I would certainly like to try :-)
