I’m about to replace an old Switchmaster room thermostat with a Drayton RTS1 stat. I only have three wires going to the following terminals on the Switchmaster. Red -3, Earth -5, Black -1. The instructions on the RTS1 state that a neutral connection is essential. Terminal three is the call for heat. Any advice on wiring up the new RTS1 is much appreciated.

Unfortunately for you this thermostat needs a power source for its relay; you would have been better off with a Honeywell DT90E, more expensive but very sensitive and the battery lasts.
