Hi Fosters,

Do you still have the smell? Small rodents only stink for about a week.

Hi Simon,

Yes we seem to have almost lost the smell, by sorting out the air bricks. Although we have had a very slight whiff of the smell when we've had the log burner going in the lounge a couple of times in the last week or so. No smells after the heavy rain we've had which is when the smell used to surface really badly, just a very faint whiff when we've had the fire going. Strange... but only very minor and probably wouldnt have even noticed it if we hadn't been plagued by the stronger smell for the last few months! So we can live with it, just a bit curious if anyone has any ideas why that might be...?

:dunno:

Hi Fosters,

Guessing the smell comes back slightly when the log burners going is a bit like a wet dog drying out?

SSM

Well Fosters i have enjoyed this post ,the last time i got so tuned into a good read was in primary school ,as every friday afternoon our teacher would read us a chapter from( The Castle of Adventure..by Enid Blyton)

Hence she would read it to us as i have a short span of concentration when it comes to reading!

so your mystery may be solved glad to here
just a slight whiff ........Enid Blyton wrote more than one book!
hope you dont need to have anything done with your whiff
All the best Aileen,

Just want to add that i know there is really nothing worse than a smell ,especially when you can't actually pinpoint where or why.I have a damp smell in my hall and it is driving me mad, i live in a council flat .But I know exactly what the cause is. The flat above me is private and it is rented out to different tennants and nationalities, they have all been just like any other neighbour no probs with that .It is the fecking landlord and the stupid plumber he gets out, needless to say it is because im a woman that this guy think's i dont have a clue . But they have a shower and tray , they have no drain pump ..and the drains can't cope with all the shower's that they have in the morning ,as there could be up to six students living in the flat at any one time. So you can guess where all the excess water goes. Down my walls ::b

I could go on and on  but i am going to demand that the council come out to look at my house and deal with the landlord themselves.

I have got really depressed over this situation , and the problem only started after the shower got put in, even if he had left the bath there and had a shower over it .......... i will need find the energy to confront my council.... and i just dont want any bad feeling with neighbours there is nothing worse

I will let you know how i get on  .....
