I have a Delta Steam Generator Iron, which unfortunately has been filled with (admittedly softish) tap water. A quantity of lime scale had unknowingly accumulated in the steam generator itself. This was disturbed and clogged up the pipe work and the iron. The instructions indicate that descaler shouldn’t be used, however because the price of replacing just the generator is nearly as much as a brand new unit itself I tried cleaning it out with dish washer cleaner/descaler.
This wasn’t effective, has any one any ideas or should I just abandon the unit?

Hi Reg,
sorry for the late reply. I read this ages ago and forgot to reply to it.
Often with things like this it is often best to just replace them and put the whole thing down to experience. _________________ DIY | DIY Video |

Prob end needing a new one, but White Vinegar is a great descaler and at the price of a bottle is worth a go just in case it works - fill it up neat like you would with water and leave to sizzle _________________ Don't forget to vote in the "Member Location" poll in the Lounge

And clean out properly or you end up smelling like chip shop. _________________ People forget how fast you did a job - but they remember how well you did it.
