Hi,

I want to make a frame to go around my hole in my chimney.

Image

I would like it made out of brushed stainless steel unequal angle, something like 30mm/50mm in about 3mm thick steel.

The frame would have to have really neat mitres on the front face and be joined/welded on the rear.

Does anyone know where I could get this done around SW London or further afield?

Thanks

Is it only the front that's visible?
Most would weld it up then polish it out and grain after.

Does it need to be unequal angle? I assume one leg is up inside the chimney?

Yes only the front is visible, but I wanted the return to be longer to hide the pasterboard beading around the opening
in case I ever stick my head in there and go :Should have got a longer return".

I think 50x30x3 is a stock size, so your fabricator shouldn't have much bother getting hold of it.
Might end up charging you for a full length though..... its not something we have in regularly.

Even if just the back was welded, you'd have discolouration that would need cleaning on the face anyway.

What you don't want, is a pressed up angle, the corner of the angle would be radiused, and would look gash, worth mentioning to whomever does it.
