Hi Folks, bit of a long shot here but does any one know where i can get my hands on a tool that can adjust the high and low jets on this strimmer. Apparantly they are tamper proof to stop people messing with them. the thing is though this strimmer has only been used a few times but know when it starts it won't keep running. reading on the net suggests that a common problem with strimmers is that sometimes they need the carb adjusted to keep them running smooth.

It would be a shame to have to through this out, but if i can't get at the carb screws then i wont have any choice. ::b

Have you put fresh petrol/oil mix in it as fuel only a few weeks old can cause this problem, I have a S&J strimmer and it suffers from badly from bad fuel.

If it is nearly new and was working well then suddenly it is not and no one has adjusted the screws in between I suggest that they do not need adjusting. Most likely it has dirt in the carburettor and it needs cleaning out. Best thing is an air jet from a compressor / blow gun through all the holes and jets assuming you have eliminated the obvious such as a dirty plug and bad tank of fuel. this is if the symptoms came on suddenly. If the came on gradually it is more likely loose screws holding the carburettor on or similar.

Thanks folks, i'll give it a go. but i wouldn't mind finding out if it's possible to adjust the carb screws anyway so i'll be prepared if that problem arises in the future..

If it has those strange blanked off things on the Hi/ Lo screws that don`t have a head or owt, I`ve heard you can use one of those electrical connector things that are probably for cars (bullet connector?)- push a female one of those over and it should (may) turn it . Give it a go and let us know! :dunno:

I got the thing working the other day, cleaned out the air filter etc. and put new fuel mix in and hey presto it worked (for 1 day only though) now it's back to normal i.e. won't start. :wtf:

i'm begining to think electric strimmers are the way to go again....

i had a look at some images of the bullet connectors but i don't think they would work on this.

anyway, i've given up on this piece of S**T time to move on
