Hi

can a socket for washing machine be just standard socket on the kitchen ring circuit?

also can you site this socket behing the washing machine under the kitchen worksurface?

am i right that all sockets must be 300mm from the edge of a kitchen sink? does this include the draining board or just the sink bowl itself?

thanks

Socket can go in under the worktop provided the washer is free standing and not intergrated and yes it can come off the existing ring final circuit if you wish.

It is recommended that the socket should be 300mm away from both the bowl or draining board. This wouldn't count if it was underneath the sink.

Maddiet - are you in England or Wales?

If so, what did you say, or plan to say, you'd be doing to comply with P1 when you submitted, or come to submit, your application for Building Regulations approval?
