Right,

I've been a busy beaver today....got the keys for the new house! Feel free to move this to somewhere else, it's almost like the forum needs a 'work in progress' or 'projects' page

Got the keys around and went for a look....got hammer lust and it all went to pot.

The place is a bungalow, has a few issues like:

- Lots of damp
- Rotton Joists / bouncy floors
- Bad electrics
- Leaking central heating system / backboiler
- Mouldy walls in the kitchen
- PINK bathroom (Carpet inside which stinks of pi......)
- Lots of other stuff too

This will all be address in the coming weeks, no time to hang around. They say pictures speak a thousand words, so here we go....

Mmm, that was beautiful. Makes you want to walk into the kitchen, so here it is:

After looking the in the cupboards, we quickly realised there was a serious damp/mold problem. Pipes had burst, the walls were drawing lots of moisture through.....

It was that point we realised what sort of damage two deranged people could do armed with nothing more than a hammer, fat max wrecking bar and a hammer. We only went for a 'look' and work wasn't meant to start until tomorrow....

Whoops.

Onto the other room. A carpet we considered long and hard as to wether we would keep it or not. What can only be described as a body stain swayed us in the direction of no......

In the back room, this is one of the worst affected for damp problems. Half the room has totally rotten 4x2 joists. Ironcially caused by the damp treatment people from years back knocking off the plaster to treat the house and leaving it all stacked up under the floor - pictures of that tomorrow.

The skirting boards, floor, joists - all crumble in your hand (foot / fist / wrecking bar /etc)

This is my fav......I wanted to keep it, but I fell with the wrecking bar and it fell apart....ooops.....

If y'all wish, I can update as this progresseseseseses, it should move pretty quickly if today is anything to go by!

I must be nuts..... :salute: :thumbleft: :withstupid:

Yes you are mad

The body stain is intruiging - I'm sure I can just make out where the bullet entered the skull.

Keep 'em coming BG - looks like an interesting project (rather you than me though)

Ladies and Mentalmen, I have returned....and I have progress pictures!!!!!

Ajay - tiles are being boxed up and sent to your house, consider it a Christmas present!
Southwood - Carpet has been bagged and tagged, it's yours if you want it!
Wine~o - 3 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Progress for the day........ (won't always be so quick, make the most of it!)

Kitchen

Kitchen has been removed and taken back to brick - it needs insulating and new plasterboard goign up, the old stuff was slapped over the greenpaint which is just peeling off. I must say, it stank too....fusty mmmmm *breathes in*

Electrics looked tastey too....it was a case of 'dodge the cable/chocblock' while taking it down. Rotor stop SDS and chisel bit ate it for breakfast though.

Especially love the 30/40 amp feed for the cooked, with no RCD protection and the use of the tinest choc block. It was the only bit that didn't have damp - proberbly the heat from the joint keeping it at bay....

Bedroom

Damp and rot ironically identified and blamed prompty on the damp proofing company who hacked off plaster and dumped it under the floor. All cleared away and taken WAY back to sound wood.

Had to dig out around 10 wheel barrows full of crap to get the floor to normal. I'm a nerd not cut out for physical labour or DIY

Going to scarf in some new joists (4x2) into the walls - treat the ends and use DPC. It'll be fiiiiiiiiiine.

Bathroom

I'm SURE there was a tank here....drained tanks and removed, as per my other thread. Ended up wearing a ton of black sludgy water thanks to an errant pipe cut....still not the end of the world. All out now.

TWO layers of carpet and some hideous vinal green tiles removed has taken room back to basics - just the pink tiles to sort next.

Razor....

Two pics for Razor.....

and FIRE!!!!!! Sorry the pic is rubbish.....burnt a whole skip of wood. Mmmm smelt nice.

Other

Too boring to show....

- Two rooms fully stripped of paper
- Shower removed and cubicle
- Floors cut up to get to old/new plumbing

Funny stuff

This house is fed by a lead rising main.....not a problem as such, it's got awsome potential to soak people when cranked up full.......only problem is, the house has two stop cocks!!! Boooo....hiss!!! The lead has been split underground and can't find it.

Oh well.

Still.....on with the show!

BG  :salute:

What do you mean the consumer units need replacing - cutting edge they is.....got switches 'n everything. Don't even blow when you fill the immersion heater socket with water..... :?

Rock on...I NEED a shower and some beer. It all starts again tomorrow.....

Seeing as you're giving various parts of this house away. I'd like to put my name down for the tank and any other copper you rip out.

Many thanks and keep up the good work
