Been reading abit about putting a slurry mix on external walls before putting a scratch coat of render on..
My question is do you have to put SBR in for the slurry mix or can you use PVA instead...
What does the slurry mix actually do, what is the correct mix ration to use and how long to leave it before putting the scratch coat on....

Did one a couple of weeks ago.
SBR mixed with cement and then painted onto the wall, scratch coat applied whilst slurry still tacky.
Don't use PVA for external work.

Can someone tell me the cheapest place to get SBR.
Thanks for the info darrenba, so the mix is done like emulsion paint and brushed on then.
Does it make any difference if l leave the slurry mix to dry before scratch coat is put on the next day..

I found the cheapest SBR @ Screwfix

http://www.screwfix.com/p/cementone-sbr ... 5ltr/91566

Yeah it's a thickish sticky paste, use a cheap bucket and brush as you'll throw them at the end.

I think it's best if the scratch coat goes on whilst the slurry is tacky.
