hi

ive watched my father in law skim most of our new kitchen and was itching to have a go myself.

As with most things that pros make look easy i found it incredibly difficult and although i wouldnt class it as a disaster im not happy with the results.

i was skimming over an exsisting plasterboard wall that had been plastered and painted by the previous owner but due to chases for new plug sockets need going over.

The main problem i had was that the skim seemed to be going off rapidly, so by the time i had got to the end off the wall, were i had started was quite "unworkable". Even though i worked quickly and had prepped the wall with two coats of pva (although i dont think i diluted it right).

Anyway my question is can i skim over this wall again and should i prep it with pva again and what concentration

Best Regards

Yes, just PVA it again twice and skim. Mix the PVA 50:50 if you're having trouble with it at a weaker consistency.

you want to be getting what you mixed up on the wall within 10-15 mins. that will give you plenty of time to flatten it.
