As part of new loft extension we have a new small shower room I am having a problem with the missus accepting pull cord switches for the shower and the fan as they look a bit naff. I agree but we also dont want a big red 45A switch beside the light switch & fan switch outside the bathroom. Also dont want the fan on for minutes everytime you switch the light on. So my suggestion was for two pull cord switches one for the shower one for the fan and a single gang light switch outside the door. Any suggestions please welcome. I wish we could get an infra red control one or something solve all the problems.

if you don't want the fan running on after you switch the light off, either buy a fan without timer, or if you already have a fan with timer, don't connect the permanent live, or am I missing the point...

Slightly in as much that I dont want the fan switched on everytime the light is switched on i.e both light and fan on different switches. Basically the wife does not want two pull cords in the bathroom nor does she want 3 switches- light, fan and a 45A shower switch on the outside hall wall. I guess she will have to lump it as the only way I can see of doing the job is with a pull 45A pull cord for the shower and a separate oull cord for the fan, and finally a standard switch plate outside the bathroom door.

What about a 2 gang switch outside, one for fan and one for light. Then the shower on a pull switch in the bathroom?
Or did I miss something
