Hi
I have an isolater switch which might be faulty, but it could be the wiring.
Basically, the connection from my isolater switch for my shower was getting inconsistent for the shower power light to come on.
So, I replaced the isolater switch, which I have done before. But, now I get a small amount of power coming through. Checked with the voltage meter and 240v going in to the switch and only 25v going to the shower.
I thought it was due to a bad connection, so have tried trimming back the wires to get a better connection and with no luck, won't go higher than 25v.
So, my question is, is it the cable or the isolater switch I need to replace?
Thanks,
NoShower.

have you checked you have power on the incoming side?
if you have and the switch doesn't work then that needs changing. it's a case of logical testing.

Hi Rich
Thanks for the reply.
Power on the incoming, 240v. 25v out to the shower.
What I find puzzling is 25v coming out, if the switch is broken. I would of thought, newbie I am, that there would be no voltage at all.
Is that right, so new switch time?
Thanks.

ignore the 25V you are reading there are reasons for that.
if you don't have 240v out then it does sound like the switch isn't working.
just out of curiosity, when you say you have 240 on the incoming side, was that from testing live & neutral or did you just test live & earth?

240v incoming testing live and neutral.
I'll get another switch and swap it around and it'll hopefully solve it.
Thanks Rich.

Are you measuring the voltage on the load side of the switch with the shower connected?
