I do understand that different ring mains & lighting circuits do not share neutrals, each circuit always returns to the Distribution Board (even though, at that point, they are joined together(!)).

Does this also apply to the earth?

For instance, in an installation of single wires (as opposed to twin & earth cables) running through conduit, one would have a single 2.5 live & a single 1.5 live, a single 2.5 neutral & a single 1.5 netral in the same conduit.

Does it need two earths or can the 1.5 circuit connect to the (primary, 2.5) earth?

Having said that, can 2.5 ring main & 1.5 lighting circuits run in the same (25mm) conduit or do they have to have separate channels?

If its steel conduit there would be no earth wire.

If its trunking you should run 2 earths, one for each circuit.

In conduit or trunking you can have multiple cables for multiple circuits, so long as they are the same voltage.
So for example you can not run a telephone cable in the same trunking as that for your sockets and lights.

Thanks.

Plastic conduit.

Seems a bit daft, some of these regulations, when the earths all meet in a block in the distribution board!!!
