We did the rounds a month ago, looking at possible secondary schools for our eldest daughter.

One was a newish build and it was well equipped but the walls were either blocks that had been painted (like concrete blocks) or butted up plaster board that was just painted. I wasn't impressed, having been to a 1950's school where walls were solid and plastered. I wondered whether this is the norm. Are your children's finished in a similar way?

Does it really matter what the building materials are like, surely its what the content of the school is like ie the teaching

I know that! But I just wondered whether every county builds schools like that these days, having not been in any new ones before now!

the corridors in the new school they built to replace my old secondary school are float & set plaster but the new hall / gym is
painted concrete block (a blind monkey could of made a better job of the block work). new school must be 20 years old now.

our local secondary school which when first put up 5 years ago was very similar to what you have described. Both pupils and staff complained of sore heads and dizziness. It was thought that the ceilings were not high enough and that the ventilation was poor :wtf: This is a new school. There was also complaints about the lack of playground. For a school that holds roughly 1100 pupils the playground is roughly 80 feet by 50ft  :?
