Hi,

I am quite familiar with my keyboard but I have never used the number part in the right hand side. I have been looking for the same keyboard but without the number part.
Do you think I can cut off the number part of my keyboard...say...by a saw?

Now I know you are a wind up merchant...

If you do not use those number keys you may saw it off BUT:-

1) Ensure the 'Num Lock' key is held down whilst sawing to hold the keys locked steady,

2) Only use a Junior hacksaw and not one of those larger ones, to help keep a smooth edge on the remainder of the keyboard.

I am not joking...just don't know how the lines linking inside. Do you think my keyboard can not work anymore after that?

Assuming it isn't a wind up then no, you can't saw it off without ruining the keyboard and it most certainly won't work again. IIRC, on most keyboards, the actual electronics is in the top right corner and you'd be sawing them in half - never mind the 'wiring'.......

You can purchase 'mini keyboards' that don't have the numeric pad OR the cursor keys (in the usual positions). What they do is make those keys either part of the main keypad layout or offer the missing functionality via a special 'shift' key.

I have been looking for a keyboard without the number part but cannot find one that has the same size and style with the main part of the one I am using. I don't like a mini keyboard which may slow down my typing speed and and wont be so comfortable.

dont bother, keep a keyboard with the numbers on someday you may want to type a ♠

Surely? Cmon, really? It's like taking a huge saw to a house, slicing it in half and expecting all the wiring to still work.
Which in I think would be really funny for some reason. "Hi mr jones, I got bored so I sliced your house clean in half on my lunch break with this 30ft saw" anyway

Have a google for "compact usb keyboard" theres loads of options for you.
Or phone up pissy world, currys, dixons any highstreet shop which deals in computers really and see what they have in stock.

Megaross, don's say that. After reading about his keyboard I was thinking about my car. I am the only person who uses it so the passenger side is completely useless to me so I am just off to get a load of blades and chop it in half - of course it will still work

I would like to tell you why I want to cut off the number part.

I put my keyboard on the slider board under the surface of the desk to let the the elbows bend to 90 degrees, that is comfortable for me and may for many people. Acooding to some instructions, we should also put the mouse in that level as the keyboard.

Now, the problem is I locate the center of the main part of the keyboard at the center of the slider hence the kayboard as whole will be on the right part of the slider because of the number part and therefore not enough space for the mouse!
