Vinnie Jones used to promote Bosch, perhaps he still does!

I don't know why powertool companies do this

Do they think that you will rush out and buy a powertool because X is being paid to promote it

It amazes me what goes on in business etc. with marketing.

I once went to Aberdeen and a taxi driver pointed out a block of flats and said "Rod Stewart owns an apartment in that block". The developers must have given it to him with a clause saying he could not sell it for X amount of years. I am sure a similar thing has gone on in Dubai, where muppets have bought an apartment because someone famous owns one

with the makitas they are end off line [old batteries] so non compatable with new stuff the makita and other manufacturers will be throwing truck loads off stufff at all sorts off outlets just to get rid off them for the new stuff

the dewalt or ryobi bargains may not be as good but you can use them with newer batteries so the tools dont become redundant when the batteries give up
