I've seen loads round here like that. Amazing to see how many are bolted on with 4 bolts onto the chimney - shocking. Should have lashing kits round the top!

What a conman :angryfire:

He's got his own van, ladders etc which costs a fair bit each year in tax, insurance, maintenance, depreciation and capital outlay.

He gets the call travels to you does the job travels home, invoices and he has the cheek to charge £45

You should've kicked his ladders away

Not having a pop at you but when people use solicitors which charge upwards of £300 per hour and just pay up but begrudge a working bloke his money it does get on my danglers.

How much of that £45 did he get to keep I wonder?

I'm sure most of the tradespeople on here have done it the other way as well and ended up working for peanuts as the result of pricing a job wrongly

It doesn't matter what goes in the hand - takings isn't profit!

True. Reminds me of Duncan Bannatyne's philosophy: Turnover is vanity - profit is sanity

....and if your jobs are spread out across an area, or through the day, and you get timewasters who aren't in when they said they would be, or if most of your jobs require a trip to the merchants and then a second visit to site, so that you can only actually box off one every 2 or 3 hours on average?

Less than £20 quid an hour with overheads still to come off the top doesn't amount to a whole hill of beans.
