I've just bought a Ronseal pump fence sprayer. Do I have to use the "sprayable" treatments in it or can I just use standard fence treatments?

I know it says to use sprayable products with it but is this just another money making thing as they are dearer than standard treatments.

I hope so because I've got about 8 litres of standard fence dye I'd like to use up

I was considering one, but went for a big compressor that was 50 quid from Aldi with all the attachements, including spray guns.

Used normal fence stuff and done all my fences in record time - it didn't bat an eyelid. The stuff was thicker than the spray stuff, but I had no problems - don't know what the ronseal thing is like?

I use all sorts in my hand pump sprayer. If it's a bit thick and you don't get a very good spray pattern try warming the stuff to reduce the viscosity and give it a good shake to break any globules.

I had a great response to that Simon, but I'd have been given a massive red card by our friendly mods so I will keep it to myself
