Sadly dave.m passed away a couple of days ago, he finally lost his battle with Cancer on the 7th June 2012. My thoughts are with his wife( Susan ) and daughter ( Tracy ) and the rest of his family. Dave had been battling cancer for a couple of years and still used to come on here when he must of been feeling awful as he was pumped up with Chemo drugs for weeks at a time.

Although it is not common knowledge Dave was also Mod5 and did a fantastic job of moderating the forum, he was a really helpful guy and helped out considerably by dealing with the spammers and other important things that make the forum run smoothly. He will be missed by all moderators and forum members!

I had met Dave on a couple of occasions when we went out for a few beers together, despite his illness he was always positive and good to be around, below is a picture from the Darwen Gala 2011 when Dave and I went out for a few beers.

The funeral is next Thursday at 12.30, They have asked for family flowers only, If anyone would like to make a donation then his family would like it to go to Rosemere Cancer Foundation at Preston Hospital and they can be made via the funeral directors in Dave Murten's name, The funeral director is J & A Porter's in Ansdell, Lytham.

I'm honoured to have known Dave and I considered him a mate.

Rest in peace Dave

I wondered if the worst had happened when I noticed that Dave had posted less and less and then not at all recently. Dave dealt with his illness in a stoic way and never bemoaned his condition. Sad to see a good member pass away as he made his mark here.

My condolences to his family for their loss.

DWD

I didn't know him but felt I did through his posts and the help he gave me as Mod5 (although I didn't know it was him). A very sad loss to the forum. A very brave man until the end. His spirit always seemed upbeat even though he was clearly suffering badly. My condolences to his family. RIP Dave.m.

There are two sorts of Englishmen, those from Yorkshire and those that want to be from Yorkshire.

Never ask which a man is.

If he's from Yorkshire he'll tell you, if he isn't it's not fair to embarrass him!

RIP Dave we are all poorer for your passing. Respects to your family and friends

Ray & Alison
