I have a Worcester Heatslave Pseudo Combi Boiler with a hot water reserve which is controlled by a basic LP722 Drayton programmer (The really common Type that you see in many houses).

The LP722 allows me to control the Hot Water and Heating independently i.e. If I chose to I could have the hot water off without a reserve of water being maintained and at the same time the heating on.

To control the central heating I also have a traditional dial type thermostat – the type that clicks on and off as the room temperature is meets and drop below the set point.

The problem I have is that the Thermostat has been put in a room that DOES NOT HAVE A RADIATOR IN IT and so the thermostat does not detect increases and decreases in temperature quickly enough to respond and stop the boiler firing until the whole house is far too hot.

Obviously the location of the thermostat was a very very bad choice but I am where I am and to rectify I would like to utilise its wiring all the way back to the Boiler and replace it / wire at the place of the current thermostat a Wireless Thermostat Receiver. and have a wireless thermostat sending the new receiver a correct reading from elsewhere in the house.

My question is – IS THIS POSSIBLE??? IS IT EASY TO WIRE THE RECEIVER IN PLACE OF THE existing STAT. In my simple world the receiver and the current Stat will be doing the exact same thing in terms of talking to the boiler – the mechanism for deciding what signal to send being the only difference.

Also do I have a second option of replacing the Drayton programmer with a programmer having an integral thermostat? This would be a less good option as the Programmer is again not in an ideal room – but better.

Or maybe a third option of replacing the Programmer with a Programmer Receiver?

In all cases I would prefer to maintain the ability to switch the water off – even though it is a pseudo combi.

The first option does seem the most straight forward. Help / advice needed. Especially regarding how easy the wiring will be.

I Hope my logic makes sense!!!

No need to post in the other forum.

Exactly what model do you have.

An rf stat will require a switching pair and a 230vac supply, so information on the room stat etc required

Can you explain what you mean by switching pair?

Thanks

Apologies, it seems your IP address was the same as someone else that was banned. The blame lies with an Eagle eyed moderator - so it wasn't me!

Enjoy the forum :welcomeuhm:

I will lock the other thread as you have more chance if there's only one going.

A silly question perhaps but if you drilled the hole right through the wall where the stat is now would it be on a good place if you put it the other side?

thescruff,

Okay I will find the exact models and current wiring patterns at the weekend. When yo say switching pair do you mean in terms of the current wire config?

Also in principle does it makes sense seem feasible? i.e. replace a thermostat with a hard wired receiver to receive signals from wirelesss thermostat/s?

Thanks

moderator6,
I love your idea (thinking outside the box!!) but afraid the wall behind is no good.

Thanks

The old stat will have two or hopefully 3 wires, I need to know.

Also the exact model of the boiler.
