Hi
I have been told it can be done. i want to know if anyone knows how or if anyone can...
How do you Repair a Clear perspex speedo lens which has a visible crack across a corner ..
I've heard that there is something you can use which melts the plastic allowing the to halves to be joined, This is then polished... sounds simple.. But i want to know if its true? who can help?? anyone offers this service?

Second that. You'd be better off getting a new one from an online second hand parts dealer. Failing that get a new one cut to size from a sheet of perspex.

ultimate handyman is the expert so please be patient till he comes along
i personaly dont think a repair is possible to a physical break or if it is its a extremly expensive alterhative to replacement
you can off course rub out scratches with the correct paste but thats a different matter
quick google brought up this

You'd probbably need to remove it from the dash for the repair, not sure how well theses repairs come out.
Must be some rare thing if a speedo cover is £400

You can successfully join two pieces of acrylic together so that the joint is not seen using tensol cement. I doubt this would work for your speedo lens though.
You would need to remove the lens and then you would have to get the tensol cement on both sides of the crack, which might mean breaking it altogether and then you could apply the tensol cement. If you do not do this it would be like a cracked car windscreen where it will not let the water through and so the joint cannot be made.
If the tensol cement did glue it back together it would then need a lot of polishing to get it looking good.
There is also the chance that the lens is not acrylic and so Tensol cement would not then work.
There is probably another alternative to tensol cement, but i do not know of it.
I'd check out some care enthusiast forums if I was you or some car renovation magazines etc.
