Just got off the phone with a housemate and basically the roof above room above mine in my house down in Plymouth decided to leak horrifically creating massive water damage in that room and some in mine. Aside from my room now stinking I've got a crack in my celing and the artex is peeling round it.
I've said I'll do it for a few quid as I've done work for him before.
I was thinking, assuming nothing is rotting, easifill the crack, strip off a patch of artex and then try and recreate the pattern. Then repaint the celing (most annoyingly it's a massive room and I did it a few months ago).
I've never done artexing before because I think it looks crap, any tips you guys can offer in repairing this little patch?
I haven't been down to have a look yet so I can't tell you the full extent of the damage.

Remove any loose bits first, then Easifill the crack, then scrim it with scrim tape.

Then Artex over it, when dry give it a lick of paint.

You are lucky that it is a swirl pattern as it is relatively easy to patch up. Some patterns such as fans are almost impossible to patch repair without it standing out like a sore thumb!

Had a job with stipple finish but then I did not know stipple brushes existed  (expensive stuff this artex, even though it is not in vogue).
