doing a bit of rendering outside with a float finish normally only do rendering inside with a ratio 3:1 which is a bit strong for outside i think could anyone tell me te best mix for the scratch and the floating coat cheers??

5 plastering sand to 1 cement and a quater of hydrated lime works for me :wink:

is that for the scratch and the float coat? should i pu a waterproofer in the scratch aswell?

5 to one should be about right, I'd add some plasticiser to make it easier to apply :wink:

4-1 plastering sand- cement, waterproofer and plasticser scratch coat, and as honeymonster says for float coat

cheers lads just one other thing someone said to add a shovel of building sand is that wright coz i thought it would crack ::b
