Hi,
My daughter has a 1998 Renault Clio and the interior light switch and sunroof switch has water in it. This has only occurred since we had the recent high winds with rain. We are going to have the sunroof looked at and get the aerial sealed. But how do we remove the consul to dry out the switches and interior light. It has been so bad that the radio has interference and we can only assume that the water is causing this because the CD plays fine. I am particularly worried because of the operating switch for the electric sunroof is also housed in this unit. Your advice would be aprpreciated.
Thanks
Derek Hudson :dunno:

The leaking sunroof issues are notorious on Clio's and in some models the immobiliser unit is up there which causes havoc if it gets affected. I would recommend going to a windscreen firm who has some expertise in fixing these. This is the sort of firm you need http://www.bettawindscreens.co.uk/ but I am sure you would not want it spend that sort of money on a 98 car worth a few hundred.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings

DWD

Thank you DWD. Unfortunately the car is in excellent condition apart from this and my daughter can't afford to change it. The company you recommended charges about £130 to renew the seal so I think we will find a repairer nearer home and go with that option

Try a few of the scrapyards local to you, theres a few round here that will supply and fit parts, if it needs a new seal.

The console bit, chances are theres a couple of clips on the sides there. Not familiar with that particular vehicle, but these things are mostly held together the same ways. Is it jut a light difuser thing? of small light with a large surround..... The latter, you probably remove the central light part, carefull gentle persuasion, a plastic spatula is an ideal improvisation(found in the kitchen drawer), you should be able to see any screws/clips then.
