My butcher has started to sell Red Poll beef.

Red Poll is a breed that originated in East Anglia but went out of fashion early last centuary. The cattle are small but tasty; the market, especially after WWII was for big animals regardless of the taste. Hence Holsteins. The Red Poll breed nearly died out but is now coming back into fashion.

Is it a lot more expensive than ordinary Beef? and how would the flavour compare with Aberdeen Angus?

not much of a choice off my nearest butcher when it comes to beef. I can either get Welsh Black Beef or....Welsh Black Beef! Not complaining though because it is, in my opinion, one of the best
