So iv got this job TOMORROW! and iv been asked to bond 3 walls that consists of bricks and blocks, do i need a pva coat on them? there is bound to be something about this on here but its late and iv just done 12 hours of sparkying, cheers

Yes you do, possibly more than one on he blocks if they are thermalites which are highly porous.

No need to pva block or brickwork, it's a bodge job if you do. Brush it down if it's not new work and wet it well. If you pva the wall you defeat the object of plastering. PVA has it's place but this is not one of them. Untrained cowboys PVA everything and don't even know why they are using it other than to reduce suction :roll:

Can you explain that comment?

Controlling the suction is exactly what it's about. Granted bonding agents are better suited but PVA is hardly a 'bodge'

Don't encourage him Colour. He gets on here every so often and says his bit about how we're all bodgers for using PVA and real plasterers don't use it and what do we think they used to use before PVA existed. Well when I started, before the advent of lightweight plasters, I used to knock up with a shovel but I'm not that fussy about tradition.
