Hi,
I had many radiators sent some months before they were fitted, upon actually being fitted the plumber mentioned that one of them had slight cosmetic damage - no problem I thought, it'd just had a small knock, possibly caused by me carrying it up the stairs and setting it down or whatever... but damn, is that thing ever noisy. Kind of like a mixture of water running, and almost rattling. It's very noisy.
I've tried bleeding it many times to no avail, is there anything else I can do, or is a new radiator in store?
Thanks

What TRV is fitted and is it on the flow, the hottest tail.
A pic may help.

From the pics the damage is not on the rad itself but to the covers. Therefore nothing wrong with the rad, unless there is more damage I cannot see. The only cause therefore can only be with the flow through the valve. Ensure both valves are fully open at first. If that doesn't get rid of the noise then try taking the head off the TRV and check again. Still no improvement then I would consider either a restriction caused when the valves were fitted (perhaps with over use of jointing compound) or the TRV is at fault.
Sorry saw the video but could hear anything.

Thanks, I will try that - to be honest I (stupidly) didn't even know there was a valve on the other side to the TRV! And agree it looks like only slight comestic damage so hopefully it wasn't from when it got knocked.
Also the video, yeah it's recorded on my phone so I needed to turn my speakers up quite high on the PC to hear it... it's like a crackling sound, maybe not too dissimilar to how an open fireplace sounds :S

I have not been able to hear the noise.
When you bleed the rad do you get water out of it? I am wondering if there is some air trapped at the top which is not getting out of the bleed screw which is not quite at the top. If there was some slack in the feed pipes I would try tilting the rad to get that air out. Over time it will dissolve anyway.
Once in a blue moon we encounter something which has got into the rad and rattles with the flow. Often close to the inlet/outlet. A mechanical stethescope will often locate the source of the noise when its caused by this.
I asume that the TRV is suitable for that direction of flow. Most work either way now.
I would recommend setting the lockshield valve to just one turn open.
You seem to have 10 mm microbore tube!
