Hi, I'm new here and not an expert so please bear with me! I'll try to explain the problem as much as I can.

The problem is with my main shower which is in a downstairs bathroom (chalet bungalow). The coldwater tank is almost directly overhead in the eaves and the hot water tank is directly behind the shower unit. The unit is a Mira (not sure of the model, will confirm later but its relatively new, 2 or 3 years old maybe). We have a conventional Glo Worm boiler which is a good 30+ years old but is reliable and giving plenty of hot water.

Over the last couple of years the pressure has been reasonable in the summer and fairly poor but acceptable in the winter (I'm assuming because the hot water may not be quite as hot?). However, recently over the last few months the pressure has dropped and dropped and some pulsing has occurred. We are now at a point where at the dip of the pulse there is barely any water coming through. The hot water from the tank is piping hot through the taps and there are no issues with the cold water tank so I'm not sure exactly what the problem could be. Having said all this it was low pressure this morning but no pulsing.

There have been some random noises coming from the pipes but very infrequent. Also, the control that the thermostat has over the radiators has changed over the last few weeks. Sometimes they kick in even when set really low and the conditions are warm in the house. Not sure this is related though.

Any ideas much appreciated

thanks

the incoming water will be colder in the winter, as will be the temperature of the stored cold water, this will affect the shower temperature.

if you can you need to remove the shower cartridge and check for any blocked filters, some mixers are adjustable on max water temperature, the adjuster is normally behind the mixer control knob.

we really need to know what model of mixer you have.

thanks rio. The model is a Mira Excel. It has a temperature control knob and pressure control lever behind it. As I've mentioned, even with the pressure on max it is pretty much a trickle now on high temperature settings and every now and then it pulses.

I'll have a look at how easy the cartridge is to remove and let you know how I get on.

Any other ideas appreciated thanks
