All of the bedrooms in our house we've (fairly) recently moved into have a light switch and a pull cord that independently turns the light on and off. I want to remove the pull cords entirely out of the system, and just use the switch. Is the easily achieved? Ive bought some 1-way light switches to replace the current ones but am now thinking the switches are probably going to be 2-way with the pull cord (me bad :/). can the one way switches still be used if im getting rid of the pull cords?

thanks!

Depends on whether the live/switched live is at the plate switch or the pull cord.

remove one of the switch plates and tell us what wiring you have..

Sorry Mole, forgot about this thread, if you open up the pull cord switch and post a pic of the wiring i'll get back to you. (I know what i'm expecting to see, but just to be safe)

from your light you probably have your incoming supply your permenant live and neutral, if thats the case you should be able to connect your c to L1,L2 then at the other switch put your L1,L2 in same hole and leave your common, you wont need new 1 way switches, or you could put em on if you want.

Have you got loft access to above the pull cords?

If so it is an easy job.

You will need to swap the pull cords for junction boxes.

A picture will help (of the inside of the pull cord not of the loft) but I suspect it will be an easy job for you to do.

Cheers
