This basin is in a downstairs cloak room, It was fitted by a professional plumber.

The plumber seems to think that he can make water flow along a level pipe, that is approximately 10 feet long and has two ninety degree bends Confused

As you can see from the above picture the waste pipe is almost level with the floor, it then bends ninety degrees before connecting to another piece of waste pipe that is about 8 feet long, this piece was also level Shocked

I have cut about two inches from the chrome pipe and lifted the waste pipe so that there is now a decent fall on the waste pipe.

Hopefully the sink will actually empty now, rather then the water just sitting there for days/weeks.

That's not a proper seal joining onto the chrome, he should have used a standard multifit elbow, let's hope the pipe never blocks, it's all very well having pipe work that doesn't leak when in use, but to have pipe work that is truly water tight is the way it should be done

The chrome pipe just fits inside of the plastic and was not sealed at all, but it had some flakes of plastic on the outside, as if someone had tried using pvc cement or something.

The sink has leaked badly in the past and thw whole floor has been soaked.

I siliconed the chrome pipe into the plastic as a temporary measure, but will try and find the correct joint. I will be removing the joints again when I box it all in.

Those chrome pipes are a pain. What product exactly do you suggest, because when I tried a compression fitting the chrome pipe was too small. (maybe I shouldn't use cheap screwfix ones, I know) You can see that on this installation. The chrome pipe is on the inside of a street elbow if I'm right.

Yes it is just pushed inside.

Not sure what would be the best, but I was thinking of pushing the pipe in and then using one of these- http://www.screwfix.com/prods/29220/Plumbing/Uni-Compression-Waste/Flexi-Waste-Straight-Coupling-30-38mm
