ok, every tradesman uses a pencil or pen, one of the most frustrating things i found whilst tiling is that i have lost my pencil, it wont stay behind my ears, someone nicks it etc, so i now use a'pencilpal' basically it is a pencil or pen on a retractable reel and it attaches to your trouser loop, it has a 120cm cord which attaches to a pencil, I use it let go and its always there, brilliant, also a lot of golfers use them, what do you think??

I suppose it is a good idea if you loose your pencil, but I have never found it to be a problem yet.

i wear a toolbelt ...which has a little pencil sized pocket..which i use to put my pencil in when its not behind my lug...

have you seen the little rubber sleeve electricians use to cover ends of 3 core wire ...if you thread a string through the end and slot a pencil in the other end you can wear it around your neck ... brilliant..

I'm not a tradesman and I wear overalls and never loose my pencil, torch, 6 inch rule or permanent marker as they all fit in my top pocket.

Judging by the amount of replies to this thread it seems that not many other people loose their pencils either.

Have you considered Dragons Den?

Thanks for posting my picture
You wont see many golfers with them as not many people know about them! I have got a website selling them and they are popular for golf days instead of the normal printed golf ball which gets lost, with a pencilpal your advert is always on show as its attached to your golf bag but i also find it very handy whilst tiling, and quite a few builders merchants have golf days and ive supplied to them as well, if anyone wants a free sample let me know and you can test it out!

I've never lost a pencil yet, when I get a new pencil I cut it into 3, sharpen both ends and you have 6 working ends.

The wife laughs at me but I can always find a pencil with a usable end

I lose pencils all the time but I am careless. I would also lose the pencilpal by putting it somewhere safe. I think there is a black hole in my workshop that draws in pencils

I am a lost cause Tommy but it looks a good idea :thumbright:

My site has been tweaked a bit to aim at trademan/handyman/diy etc see what you think, it can save a lot of time wasting searching for that pencil!
