Hey guys,

Nice to be here in this forum :-)

I came home this evening to find that our powershower isnt working, as as far as we can see its the only thing that isn't.

I'm more of a carpenter by trade, so electrics isnt really my speciality!!

We are thinking its the electric box at the bottom of the stairs. A picture is here: http://www.websitechef.co.uk/box.jpg

There is one switch that is switched to off (on the right), and when trying to switch it to on, it bangs and obviously trips back down.

We are thinking this is possibly the cause of the problem.

Perhaps a fuse? -- if it were to be a fuse, we cant see a fuse there to replace!

Are we going in the right direction, or are we completely out of whack??

Nick

Where's the front cover for the cu ::b  ::b You'll get more than a whack if you touch one of them exposed bits.

I expect the shower has burnt out and is tripping the fuse, try turning the switch off to the shower before resetting the trip.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the advice!

I turned off the shower, then tried to turn the switch back on, but no luck - it tripped back down.

Does this indicate that its not the shower causing the problem?

The MCB (fuse to you) is doing as its supposed to by tripping out indicating in your case a short circuit , not an overload as a fuse would. Try disconnecting the cable from the shower switch altogether and put into some connector block sepperateley from each other then try turning the MCB on and let us know what happens. If it still will not reset then it is probably the cable having been damaged somewhere. or the MCB may have become tired through constant overloading. Does it bang when you try and reset it ???
